Koblenz has become a very popular holiday destination in the past few years thanks to new attractions such as the cable car that links the “German Corner“ i.e. the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – with the imposing Ehrenbreitstein fortress. The Romanticum Exhibition opened in June this year in an imposing new building. In the exhibition, passengers on board a virtual ship experience the legendary romance of the Rhine and the landscape on both sides of the river as they take a spectacular interactive journey through the romantic Middle Rhine Valley. There are sound and light effects as well as films and pictures. One can even play at being ship’s captain standing behind an original ship’s wheel and steer the ship past the cliffs that are so evocative of a journey down the Rhine.
