When you mention Vermont all sorts of images come to mind – picturesque old New England towns, beautiful lakes and mountains, autumn colours, magical winter days and ski-ing, summer fairs, farms, maple syrup, cheeses, icecream, covered bridges and the famous song “Moonlight in Vermont“. Family Campers & RVers (FCRV) has taken the title of this song as the theme for its 54th annual rally.

The venue is Champlain Valley Exposition Center in Essex Junction, five miles from Burlington on Route 15 in north-west Vermont near Lake Champlain (see Champlain). The town of Burlington has a population of 211,000 and is the headquarters of IBM’s Micro-Electronics department. IBM employs 7,000 people locally. Essex Junction is a small town with a population of around 8,500.

Several rallies have already been held at the Exposition Center where there are facilities for both indoor and outdoor activities, including grass-covered areas for sports and games. All pitches have 30 amp electricity and water. Water pipelines will be laid once every sector is full. Please come with full water tanks and empty grey water tanks. There are no dump stations although pumping out is possible for around $25. The stage is indoors and there is a kitchen in the youth centre.
Food can be purchased on-site and a nearby shopping centre has shops, fast-food outlets, VFW and a launderette.

There is a circus at one end of the exposition center and tickets are available for performances.
The rally venue will be open on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th July for those who arrive early (the 2 extra nights costing $25). A religious service will be held on Sunday 6th. The opening ceremony is on Monday 7th July after which activities will continue until Friday 11 July. The rally venue closes on the Saturday. July 6th is included in the rally booking fee.
The rally entertainment will be by professionals and other features include the Miss FCRV pageant, FCRV trophies, hospitality, seminars, handicrafts, a commercial sector, activity centres for children, teenagers and adults, sports and games, the FCRV parade and much more. The cost for the week is $275 (advance booking).
