Closure of the Arlberg Tunnel

As previously announced the Arlberg tunnel will be completely closed during the summer of 2017 in order to carry out essential repair work. Given that outfits are not allowed to travel over the Arlberg Pass, this would mean that campsites in West Tirol could only be reached by driving over the Fern Pass or via Innsbruck.  However camping mediators in the Tirol and Vorarlberg have negotiated a special arrangement for caravans.  Outfits will be permitted to drive over the Pass…

The Netherlands

In the first months of this year, the sales of motorcaravans were up by 6.1% compared with the same period in 2016. According to NKC, there were 129 motorcaravan leasing companies in the Netherlands as of last December. There are now altogether 1,850 motorcaravans available for rent in the country and on average one in eight is rented for 15.3 days.  Compared with the previous year, the rental period for a motorcaravan has increased by 17% per booking. In Memoriam – Yvan Lafontaine

It was with great sadness that we heard at the end of April that Mr. Yvan Lafontaine had died.  Mr. Lafontaine was President of FQCC (Canada) from September 2014 to October 2016 and member of the F.I.C.C. Council from December 2013 to December 2016.   He had been very ill over the past year and was unable to attend F.I.C.C. Council meetings or international rallies.
